(This blog is about our day on Friday, June 2nd )
Friday morning we experimented with mixing yellow and blue based on what we read in, Little Blue and Little Yellow, by Leo Lionni.

In the story, two little dots named Blue and Yellow hug one another and a part of each becomes Green! We used dot watercolors to try it out and it really worked!

Sara and I found a thick cardboard paper with circle-shaped indentations.
We encouraged everyone to paint one or two circles with whatever color they chose.
Sara started with pink
Hilary wanted to use red
Dalya wanted to try out blue.
Peretz started with black

Everyone got curious about mixing other colors with the original color to see what colors they could create.

Jacob and Elet joined in.

We created reddish-rose, lilac, dark turquoise, dark bluegrey and orange-red and pink-orange.

Dalya and Peretz continued mixing for a long time. It wasn't so easy to name the new colors!

We went outside to play. It was good to have our water bottles handy!

With a Morah spotting her, Dalya figured out how to climb up the spiral ladder to the second platform. She also came down on the spiral ladder for the first time!

Jacob tried the hula hoop.

Elet figured out to use his legs to push the car out when it was stuck.

Hilary put away mats after rest time without being asked!

We read another Leo Lionni book called, Swimmy.   It is a story about a school of small fish who figure out a way of working together to prevent the bigger fish from seeing and eating them.  Also, the hero of the story looks different from the others -- he struggles to finally find his rightful place! The children loved it.
