Honey Cakes for You!

Today the children helped measure and pour ingredients to make a honey cake!

The children wrote notes for you with wishes of their very own.

Ella counts the honey cake parcels.

At our morning meeting, we notice this week has only been sunny!  We know their is no school tomorrow, and that on Shabbat it is also Yom Kippur.

Today Kayle uses puppets to act out the story of Yona and the Whale as the children fill in all the details.  They know the story very well!

The children were so excited to see their lunch mats decorated!

They notice the different pictures and colors on their lunch mats.
Thank you to all of you who came last night :)

First Self Portraits

Today the children attempted their very first self-portraits!

Ella looked in the mirror and noticed her features.

Kayle draws happy faces.

Hannah noticed that she had cream cheese on her face from breakfast.

Our sensory tub was filled with fish.
We use and strengthen fine motor skills when catching them with our fishing hook.

The playdough table is where lots of conversation happens.

Ella makes pizza and offers everyone a slice.

Marnie offers Ella and Henny to join them, "We're playing, do you want to play with us?"
What lovely collaboration happening in our class :)

We took down the pictures from our Rosh Hashanah board.  Each child shared a picture and we then said goodbye to Rosh Hashanah.  A great way to bring closure to such a special Chag!

We told the story of Yona and the whale, this time with the children involved.
We felt the ocean calm and then the storm's strong waves.

Painting with Intention

Today we did easel painting!
The children were very intentional while painting.  I captured some of the things they said while they painted.
Kayle:  It's green.  Blue and yellow make green.

Sender:  I'm making the sky blue.  It's blue today.  I'm painting it blue.  Dark blue.

Ella: I want to paint Repunzel's tower.

Mendel:  I made lines.

Mendel helped to clean the easel.  He sprayed it and then wiped all the paint off.

Snack helpers.  Peeling and sectioning tangerines.

Thank you Minkowitz family for the delicious fruit this week.

Ella and Kayle play as a team;  Ella holds the hoop and Kayle throws a ball through.

At circle time we are talking about Yom Kippur.
We told the story of Yona and the whale and saw Yona find courage to listen to what Hashem told Him to do.  We also saw the people of Ninveh change their ways and say 'I'm sorry'.

Today we had a surprise birthday for Morah Chagit.  Happy Birthday! :)

Shana Tova!

Today we signed our Shana Tova cards for Mommy and Daddy!
The children had so much enthusiasm preparing this gift, and did their best to sign their letter.

Kayle wraps some ribbon around her gift.

We can't wait to take them home and show you!

I wrote Hannah and Ella a Mitzvah note when i saw them sharing playdough with a friend.
They are rolling the papers to place in our Mitzvah pomegranate.

Sender made a lot of treats.

The children helped chop the fruit for snack.

Thank you to the Beitsh family for delicious fruit this week!

Peek into our Day

Today the children had the opportunity to get up close with a Pomegranate .

Marnie looks through the magnifying glass.

Kayle uses tweezers to remove the pomegranate seeds.

We filled our Mitzvah pomegranate, with so many good deeds today.
Parents please keep the Mitzvah notes coming!
We want plenty of good deeds for Rosh Hashanah.

Ella wrapped her Rosh Hashanah plate with her custom honey comb designed wrapping paper.

Henny draws her letter, H on her present, so she knows which one is hers.

Our writing center is set up with a paper roll, scissors and some writing pencils.

The children were busy this morning cutting and writing to create Mitzvah notes and Shana Tova cards.

Sender and Henny help chop the apples with our new choppers.

Ella and Henny sort the pom poms by color.

Today Morah brought in a real shofar.  The children notice it has a hole inside and think it will work.
They are right we hear a sound.
What does it sound like?
Sender, "a loud noise"
Kayle, "an elephant"
Henny, "a dog"
We think it also sounds like a baby crying.
