Goodbye Chanukah

Today at circle time we said goodbye to Chanukah.
Is it Chanukah today? 'No', the children replied.
'It's finished.'

We are sad Chanukah is finished.

There are so many things we love about Chanukah:  Gelt, donuts, presents, books...

We know Chanukah will come back next year.

Goodbye for now...

More fun from today:
The children loved writing in sand today.

They tried writing all the different letters in their name.

Maccabbee March:
Although Chanukah is over, we continue to have the spirit of the Maccabbees in our class room :)

Science of Oil and Water

Today we did an experiment:
We wondered what would happen if we mixed oil and water.

First we added oil.

Then we added water.

We saw cool bubbles.

Sender mixed it up.

We waited a little, and saw it started to separate.

We mixed it again.  Marnie said she thought it would separate again.
And she was right!

More fun from today:
Menorah making with pop sticks.

Matching letters to our name:

Brave Maccabees!

We were so excited with our snack today.  All the children thanked Hannah for the delicious strawberries and bananas.  Thank you to the Chinn's for being fruit family this week!

Latkes for Chanukah!

Today we looked at a Latke Recipe.
We saw the ingredients we needed and the numbers of each item.

When we poured the oil on the pan, we remembered the oil they used in the Beit Hamikdash to light the Menorah.
Marnie brought the jug of oil from our story to show her friends.

We poured 2 eggs.

Henny helped to mix it.

We couldn't wait to taste it...

More fun from today
The children wanted to hide in a cave and learn Torah.

Ella dressed up as the Greek.  The children hid their Torah 's when she came in.

Ella reminded the children that King Antiyochus doesn't let anyone learn Torah.

Kayle had a turn to be the Greek.

The children played dreidel when she came.

It was wonderful to watch the children remember the story and use the information to act out the characters as well as say some very well self-formulated lines.

Our Chanukah Party:
We lit the Menorah, sang songs.

And ate our crispy, crunchy latkes!

Yum!
The children noticed there is one more candle left.
We know tomorrow is the last day of Chanukah.

Dreidel Spin

Friday Fun!
We had a giant dreidel in our class today.
The children loved the sensory and balancing experience.

Dreidel counting!

Patterning with pipecleaners

Thank you Kayle for yummy fruit last week!

Signing in.

We were so happy to receive Chanukah gifts from Morah Sarah's daughter!
