Torah Tour

What is inside the Torah? Hebrew letters! The Yeladim found their own first letter of their name in the Torah. It looked a little different. Hashem talks to the Jewish people through the Torah - the ways he want us to live.

The 'paper' felt and looked different than regular paper. We talked about where the special 'Klaf' is from.

The Yeladim enjoyed jumping on the moon bounce and coming up with creative moon bounce games together!

What is in the Torah?

Today the Yeladim looked through many of the Parshiot in the Torah that they learned this year. Each child chose which one they wanted to draw about.

One of the Mitzvot we reviewed today in one Parsha was returning that which is lost. Each child picked a Mitzvah they wanted to re-enact and Moshe chose 'Hashavat Aveida' since it was fresh on his mind.

Rosh Chodesh Self Portraits

Our last Rosh Chodesh of the year = our last self portrait.
As the Yeladim were explaining their self portraits I noticed a lot of new detail - eyeballs in the eyes, necks and many triangle noses (in contrast to a dot). There was even one full body! (not a stick figure)

Happy Birthday Shmuli!
All the Yeladim enjoyed celebrating Shmuli's birthday today. Each of the Yeladim had a chance to tell Shmuli what they like about him/compliment.
Bella: Nice
Ofir: Playing with him
Binyamin: He's beautiful
Moshe: I love you
Zalman: He's a good friend

Mountains

The Yeladim worked diligently using their body & fine motor strength to form a mountain from clay. Working with clay takes technique and patience and as the Yeladim have gained more experience with it they have each grown to work with it and love it.

Thank you Bella for bringing this beautiful enormous doll house to our school! The Yeladim practiced playing collaboratively with it as well as negotiating and sharing.

Thank you to the Levin family for being the Fruit family this week!
Bella: I picked out the fruit with my mommy!
Morah: I noticed you chose pineapple but you don't usually eat it?...
Bella: For my friends!

'

The 'setting' for the giving of the Torah.
Where were the Jewish people? In the Desert. Morah: What is a dessert?
Moshe: it has pyramids
Shmuli: Sand
Bella: Mountains
Zalman: like a beach

The discussion about why Hashem chose a mountain and how we can act proud and tall like one when it comes to making the right choices has been a theme that keeps on coming up through out the day. Please email me pictures or send in a note about when your child acts like a mountain at home.
The Yeldim each had great experiences they shared too :).

Applying the knowledge: Moshe pointed out that Ofir's Pizza is pointy and looks like Har Sinai!

Today the Yeladim drew a mountain range, wrote mountain in Hebrew and English, and went on a  walk to gather grass to glue on their Har Sinai mountains.
