Science of Floating

Today we did an experiment, to see what would be a good basket for baby Moshe.
This plastic cup floated.

The children thought glass would sink.

Indeed, it was not a safe choice for baby Moshe.

What about this plastic cup?

It did float, but tipped a little.  Not a safe choice for a baby.  We want him to stay dry.

What about this wooden stick?

"It will flip because it doesn't have sides", said Kayle.

She was right.  Baby Moshe fell right off.
But look, the wooden stick is floating.

Everyone thought this wood basket would be a good choice.
And indeed it was.
"If there's a hole in it, water will get inside" said Marnie.

This stone sunk to the bottom.

"My baby Moshe can swim", said Henny.

More fun from today:
We got (Morah Sarah painted) a whole set of families, which the children have been enjoying.

Mendel lines up the people.

Kayle draws and cuts out 3 Matzot.

Marnie lines up the letters.

Marnie numbers her Ma Nishtanah questions.

Kayle write the numbers.

Mendel enjoys looking through his Haggadah.

The children are excited to take them home for Pesach.

Marnie and Henny set up the ball track, an exciting new toy we received last week :)

Matzah Yoga

Today we did Matzah Yoga.
Here they make a bowl with their arms.
The children helped pour the flour and water.

And mix it...with their feet :)

Kayle dressed up as Moshe Rabbeinu and split the water!

Marnie practices her pouring skills.

Henny and Marnie play together in the doll house.

Mendel matches the letters that are similar.

Sender made a 'rainbow'.

Kayle and Marnie built a castle/

Water colors for Yerushalayim.

Sender built the Bait Hamikdash.

We talked about going on a trip.
"I went to the zoo.  It's so far", said Mendel
"I went on a trip to grandma's house," said Kayle.

What should we take along when we go out of Mitzrayim?
"Toys for Baby Moshe", said Kayle
"Water and flowers", said Henny
"Canteloupe", said Mendel
"Beads from my hair", said Ella
"Fruit from the pie", said Marnie
Everyone packed a bag to get ready to go.

Ready to leave Mitzrayim...

"This is Chametz" said Sender, showing us his sandwich.

Cleaning + Charoset

Today the children cleaned for Pesach.
"Is it for real?" asked Kayle

scrub scrub scrub

Morah Chagit invited the children to her house to help her clean.

Mendel and Ella help dry the pots and pans.
They did such a good job!

We made Charoset:
Chopped nuts...

...and apples...

...and then poured in the grape juice.

"It's yummy" said Mendel.

Henny agreed, asking for seconds, and then thirds :)

Ella made three Matzot at the playdough table.

Mendel dressed up as Moshe Rabbeinu...builds a pyramid with the felt bricks.

Kayle packed Moshe, the bricks and the Jewish daddy into her truck.

"Where are they going?"

"To a new place.  Israel" Kayle sets up a new place for them to be.

Here you see Pharoah and the Egyptian in time out because "they didn't let them go" :)
