Conversational Skills

The Yeladim worked skillfully on their cover Haggadah page.
Ronny is exercising her fine motor control when cutting the fabric.

The control required is a level harder than paper cutting.
Bella: " I'm helping Binyamin. You have to try to cut it in the lines so it will be easier."

The Yeladim used gems to trace the letters 'Haggadah' in Hebrew practicing Hebrew letter recognition. As Zalman worked he said, "I see two Heys!"

During an afternoon Literacy activity, the Yeladim were talking about the names of the shape stickers they were using to trace words. I mentioned a new shape, 'Octagon.'
Shmuli commented: "I think its Spanish."
Zalman: "I think its Yiddish."

Shmuli also offered, "I have more stickers if anyone needs." That was very thoughtful.

Math & Pesach

Moshe & Binyamin are completing a sequence of wine glasses at the Seder.

Bella and Ronny are washing our kitchen down for Pesach. While they were washing the dishes they were singing a song 'we are washing for Pesach ...we are washing for Pesach :)'

Look what Bella found interesting when she washed out the pasta strainer!

We had an extra special demonstration this morning at snack from our Fruit Family - Moshe & his mom Natasha! Thank you for showing us how to make fruit and vegetables fun and tempting!

Rainbow kabobs!

Cucumber lollys!

Moments In Our Day

Ronny helped cut the butcher paper to prepare for the mural. "I did it!" she said as she jumped with excitement when she was done.  She felt proud of her accomplishment.

The Yeladim drew pictures of  grass, flowers and trees for the collaborative mural for the splitting of the sea.
Bella: "I made a sunflower. Its so easy!...this is a cloud."

In the book we read about peas it described the peas as acrobats. On page it said the peas formed a pyramid.
"They made a pyramid just like us!...Just like the Jewish people."

Thank you to the Beitsh family for being the fruit family of the week! We've been enjoying the variety all week!

We are up to the Maror on the Seder plate.

Zalman: "We almost cried from looking at it!"
Morah: Would anyone else like to try peeling or grating the maror?
Zalman: (tried discouraging his friends from the unpleasant experience) "Do you want to burn your eyes and cry? "

Ofir was creative and thought he had an idea how his eyes wont hurt from grating it :)!

We've experienced, written, drew pictures, cut with all the Makot and finally Paroah let the Jewish people leave. Not for long though! The Yeladim experienced the splitting of the sea today and the relief of being safe from Paroah.

Enjoying the beautiful weather outside! The drawings were all inspired by the scenery around:
lots of suns, grass, and ants to name a few.

Charoset

The Yeladim were very enthusiastic to share their Charoset recipes! The recipe ingredients were written out so nicely!
Ofir wrote his recipe in Hebrew.

We went through all the ingredients and noticed what each of the Yeladim have in common and what is different.
Who has apples?

 Charoset preparation:

Included peeling.

Dicing.

We grated some apple since Moshe's recipe called for grated apple.

Bella added cinnamon since her recipe had cinnamon as well as some others.

Taste testing:
Most of the Yeladim opted out very politely. Zalman tried a spoon.

Analyzing Similarities & Differences

At center time the Yeladim engaged with the items on the Shabbat Table and Pesach table.

Moshe transferred salt water with a dropper.

Bella and Shmuli helped construct a seder plate puzzle and then practiced writing the items on it.

Noticing the similarities and differences.

On our Seder plate we are still looking to fill in a few items. What is charoset? Everyone has their own recipe. The Yeladim wrote down 'charoset' on a paper and when they get home will write down their own special family charoset recipe.

Skills through Pesach

Shmuli and Ofir are writing words on their Ma Nishtana puppets to help them remember how to ask the question.

Literacy: The morning writing board has been inspired by words from the Mah Nishtana.

Now that our pyramids are finished they were added to our sensory table for some Egypt, desert inspiration.

Re- enacting what we have learned in the story of the Pesach.

Batya stretches out her hand to reach the crying baby.

At two years old Moshe was brought to the palace. He reached for Paroah's crown which caused a ruckus among Paroah's advisers.

Paroah refuses to let the Jewish people go. Hashem has no choice and uses the makot to help change Paroah's mind.

Ronny: I drank too much blood water my throat hurts. ( Drank in her imaginary play)

Math: There are 10 Makot. We learned about 4, how many are left?

Pesach continued

On Friday the Yeladim made and compared the Challah dough to the matzah dough.
Which one is bigger?
Moshe: cuz that one doesn't grow cuz we didn't put yeast

Rolling out the matzah dough.

Painting the clay pyramids the Yeladim formed independently.

Today we read how Paroah just made it harder for the Jewish people to work. Since Hashem loves the Jewish people so much it was time for them to stop being slaves. Hashem used the makah of 'dam - blood' to hopefully change Paroah's mind and let the Jewish people go!

notice the change in the expressions of the children....

Fine motor skills - The Yeladim worked diligently to cut out their Ma Nishtana pictures.
