Liquid, Solid, and Gas!

Sara squeezes oranges. She sees the liquid juice in her cup.

Sara and Dalia feel the cold ice cubes in the pot. The ice cubes are solids. We talk about matter and it's different properties.
Dalia pours the squeezed liquid juice into an ice pop maker. We then bring them to the freezer for tomorrow.
 "We are making cupcakes."
We mix water with corn starch to see what it will feel like on our hands. Its interesting how water can change things. Sara draws and S with her finger.

It turned into an amazing sensory experience!

A few hours later we came back to the pot. The ice was gone!
Sara- "It's water!
Morah Mushka- "What happened?"
Dalia- "It melted. When you keep it for a while, then it melts."
Sara- "In the freezer it gets cold and hard."

Here we see the liquid form- water.
Using water color we decorated a beautiful table cloth for our classroom!

Working with a spray bottle helps to strengthen and provide joint awareness sensory input to the hand. It also helps encourages using separate sides of the hand which impacts fine motor skills.
We put the pot of melted ice/water onto the stove. We watch as it gets hot and starts boiling. Suddenly we see something coming up from the pot. "Its steam" said Dalia.

With this we had witnessed the same substance in all three properties- Solid, liquid, and gas!
 "Look, It's a pattern."
