Today we talked about how the Kohen Gadol (High Priest) would light the Menorah every day in the Beit Hamikdash (Temple).
We had a look at how oil burns, using cotton wool, oil and a glass jar:
The children helped roll a wick.
We placed it in a jar, but it sunk down into the oil.
We thought about how to hold it up....a piece of silver foil!
We poked a hole to fit the wick through the middle.
But it still wouldn't light. Morah thought that we need to thin out the wick...
Yes! That's what it needed! The wick started to burn!
And the flame got bigger!
So beautiful!
So beautiful!
The children were proud of our achievements :)
Dreidel patterning!
A great mathematical concept.
Wax and water art:
Today we drew with candles...it was challenging for the children to draw without seeing their work.
But it all became worth it when they covered it with water color, and their drawing was revealed!
