Our Author's unit was 'born' recently with the Yeladim's fascination with Mo Willems Pigeon series. Today at meeting time we were discussing what we would put into our book. It was definitely going to be about positive behaviors. Picking the character: A couple animals were mentioned but we decided to use the Giraffe since it is a kosher animal. The Yeladim decided they wanted to teach a Giraffe about how to act in a classroom. Each of the Yeladim decided which behavior they wanted to teach the giraffe in their page. We have our work cut out for the week!
The Yeladim looked on the computer for pictures of Giraffe's to use as the common illustration in each of the pages of our book. Each of the Yeladim liked a different style. Some were picture of real ones, others were character like, while Binyamin chose one to color in which seemed to become a popular idea.
We printed each of the Yeladim's favorite and will vote on one to use for our book tomorrow!
Below, the Yeladim are titling their picture - Giraffe and each wrote their name on it and hung it on our easel in a row so we can come to a decision unanimously tomorrow.
Moshe had pointed out that a Giraffe could 'break our classroom' since it is so tall. We decided it would be a baby giraffe so it could fit even in our book ;).
