Learning Moments in Our Day

Ayelet: That says 'Zoo.'
Morah: How did you know that?!
Ayelet: 'Z' like in Zalman. Ronny has an O in her name.

Ophir: I make and 'H' with that

Ronny: I have to go to the Embassy now to work. (She must be modeling something she sees at home;)

Benjamin: Look what we found!
Ophir: Its in a potato
Moshe: Its gonna bit you.
Ayelet: No, its friendly.

With the wet ground the Yeladim were very excited about their find after digging in the playground. Building conversational skills between children at this age is so important in preparing them for their future. As the teacher and facilitator I value everything the children say and contribute and therefore share it with parents. When children hear parents talking about a conversation they had with their friends and asking questions, that just brings it full circle - showing the children how much we value their ideas through verbal contributions and conversations.

Because of Morah Oshrits Sefardic background she says shema a different way - pinky and thumb to cover her eyes and the three fingers in between touch her forehead forming a 'Shin.' A conversation broke out about who in our class may also have this tradition. Then Ronny added she says shema with a letter 'Reish' because her name is Ronny.

The last day of Chanukah. It was mixed feelings. The Yeladim were excited that the WHOLE Menorah was lit yet it was also the last day for this year until we celebrate Chanukah again next year.

Moshe: Look what's happening to the candles! (wax melting and candles getting shorter)
.....its supposed to do that.
