Learning Moments in Our Day

When in a stimulating environment, children are constantly learning. As the teacher, I am constantly observing the Yeladim and try to catch these learning moments.
Math: Benjamin is counting out rocks to match the numbers in the muffin tin.

Binyamin and Ronny are dot painting sight words.

Ronny is putting away her finished work independently.

'I wrote my name in both!' (Hebrew & English)
Bella did too!

Bringing the cash register into our classroom has turned the kitchen area into a grocery store. Yeladim are choosing items to buy and paying for them. The money exchange is requiring lots of Math skills.

Shmuli has the strawberry preparation for snack down to a science. He pulls the top green back, then cuts off the top and separating the strawberries in one bowl and the unnecessary green in another.
Thank you to the Beitsh family for being the fruit family this week and bringing in delicious fruit.

Benjamin: We are on a fire truck trying to put out a fire.
Binyamin; I am using the register to type in the address

Snack:
At snack it says how many of each the Yeladim can take. The Yeladim independently read the number and take accordingly. We spell out each fruit in English & Hebrew and mark the fruit/vegetable with an 'Ayin' for 'Eitz' or and 'Aleph' for 'Adama' based on where it grows. Ronny is circling each time she sees the letter 'E'.

The Yeladim in our class have a wonderful interest in book reading. In all my experience I have never seen the Library center as such a busy part of the classroom. While at the Library, the librarian commented that I had a lot of books and asked if it was for a few classes. I responded, 'I'm trying to keep up with the interest of the children in reading!'
I always tell parents there is no such thing as 'too much reading.' The more the better!

I'de like to share to new books from today.
What did you like about the book?
Benjamin: When the colors changed
Ronny: Rubbing the colors

It is a wonderfully written ABC book that ends with, this is who WE are, who are YOU?
I asked each child and they each responded with their name and something they love doing. Most of them responded with something here and now or an activity they did this morning but its still cute :).
Shmuli: Building with the blocks
Bella: Playing with the register
Benjamin: Playing with Ronny making a barn.
Ayelet: Reading books
Ronny: Write a letter on the board with marker
Zalman: Eat lunch
