Henry Matisse

We read a book about Henri Matisse's art. As he got older and he became ill and was confined to a bed and wheel cheer. At first he was depressed but Matisse ended up discovering a new form of art he loved. He used scissors to cut all sorts of shapes. He believed that color has 'emotion' and can dictate an atmosphere much in line with our Reggio Emilia philosophy. He loved vibrant colors so the Yeladim skillfully set out to work on .... Matisse inspired invitations to our Art Gallery!

The Yeladim used their cutting skills to try and cut with intention. We read how Henri disliked strait lines and incorporated lots of curves. That required extra thought and skill to cut in a non strait motion and the Yeladim worked diligently as they focused on the cutting.

Then the Yeladim chose and glued their shared shapes onto their invitation.
