Rainbow week is now!

Two of the main core values of the Reggio Emelia approach are:

The child is an active participant in learning.
and
The teacher, parent and child as collaborators in the process of learning.

This week's theme comes from the children.  One week when we were preparing Challot for Shabbat, Binyamin and Moshe had the great idea of making Rainbow Challah.  Since the Challah was almost done, I promised them that soon we will, I told them that Parshat Noach is coming up in a couple of weeks and that this would be the perfect opportunity for Rainbow Challah.

This week, the week of Parshat Noach is "Rainbow week!"  We started the week this morning by walking into a rainbow, a rainbow that needed to be sorted.

Bella, Moshe, Ophir, Binyamin and Ronny work hard to sort the colors in the correct labeled bucket!

Ayelet searched the room for Red.  She found the strawberries that Bella brought for snack this week.

Ayelet: I found red strawberries, they reminded me that my mommy is going to make strawberry crisp.

Binyamin and Zalman use their favorite colors (Zalman; blue and Binyamin; orange).

Rainbow snack!

We matched the colors up with their first letter then searched the room something of that color.
